Musafir, the Cat: Papier-mâché cat
Musafir, meaning traveler, is a beautiful cat who turned russet when a desert sky melted down on him. He has roamed the world and slept under ruby skies. Every place he went, every person he purred to, every creature he saw – he remembered. The intricate work painted on his body are the places Musafir has visited and carries with him. That, perhaps, is what makes this work one of our cherished pieces in the collection. With each stage of the papier-mâché process, we worked on Musafir to be the quintessential wandering soul – someone who searches for the next place of beauty to call home, even if it is for just a little while.
