Keepsake Box with Kashmiri Autumn Motif

This case has been created by one of India’s celebrated papier-mâché artisan, whose Kashmiri antecedents inform the delicate visual of autumn in the valley. Each of these papier- mâché elements showcase the artist’s tremendous mastery over the form. There’s detail and nuance in the painting of the chinaar leaves and the way the shades of russets, oranges, azure, and sage blend together – conveying the wistfulness of a lost season. Think of this box as a space for your treasured mementos - important letters, handmade cards, or your favorite book, a collection of your finest tisane bags (or anything more regular, if you like.) Or just enjoy the keepsake box by itself. It represents both, a dying art form and a community that still engages with it fully to create beautiful things.
